Patrick Block Honored At Oregon Innocence Project Launch Party

Posted By The Law Offices of Patrick L. Block, P.C. || 18-Apr-2014

Attorney Patrick Block attended the Oregon Innocence Project's Launch Party and Benefit on April 9, 2014. To thank Attorney Block for his significant support of the OIP in the past, he was honored as an Innocence Champion at the launch party.

The launch party featured Attorney Barry Scheck, who is the co-founder and co-director of the national Innocence Project, as well as special guests including, exoneree Brian Banks, Secretary of State Kate Brown, Novelist Phillip Margolin, and Rep. Jennifer Williamson.

As an Innocence Champion, Attorney Block attended an invitation-only, meet and greet prior to the event where he had the great pleasure of meeting the honored guests and other community members who share the same goal, to make a difference and support the innocence project.

What is the Oregon Innocence Project?

The Oregon Innocence Project (OIP) is a joint project between the Oregon Justice Resource Center and Metropolitan Public Defender Services whose mission is to exonerate innocent inmates, educate and train law students, and actively promote legislative reform aimed at preventing wrongful convictions against the innocent.

The OIP will be the only program of its nature in Oregon with the sole mission of tracking inmates' claims of innocence, investigating those claims, conducting DNA testing and the testing of other such evidence, and litigating where appropriate.

The OIP is dedicated wholeheartedly to securing the release of wrongfully convicted inmates and providing an incredible educational experience for the students who are involved in the Project.

As a passionate attorney who strongly believes in the aims of the Oregon Innocence Project, Attorney Block was honored to attend the OIP's Launch Party and Benefit and be selected as an Innocence Champion for showing his ongoing support to the Project. He hopes to continue involvement in the future.
